Another creditable performance in the League as United finished in 5th place.

They were excellent in the first half of the season, losing only twice and at the turn of the year they were in third place. But after winning their first game of the New Year they failed to win in six and tumbled down to 8th.

Attendances remained around the 15,000 mark however there were five times that many present on Good Friday when the infamous riot took place.

There was no FA Cup run as United slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Second Division Middlesbrough.
